Awakening the Spirit Concert

Thanks to a new friend passing along two tickets to Boulders Philharmonic I was able to experience something wonderful and well simply inspiring last night. Titled Awakening the Spirit Concert, Schubert's Eighth Symphony delighted with sublime perfection. Van Cliburn Gold-Medalist Jon Nakamatsu was an unexpected emotional moment as I closed my eyes and let the sounds fill my imagination with beautiful thoughts. If you ever have a chance to listen or see in person both the Boulder Philharmonic or Jon Nakamatsu enjoy it is intellectually stimulating.

CoolTown Studios

In a quest to find a new beginning I have been doing a ton of research on the next thing/things and creativity and innovation are in strong demand at an affordable and green price. CoolTown Studios has a great insight to everything from commuting to beer and is worth ten minutes of seat time to check out what they have going on. Speaking of cool I really would have liked a bike share program last week as I trekked around Denver from meeting to meeting in the typical awesome colorado weather.

PK and the Upcoming Inspiring Chopra Speak

Today a great friend and graphic designer PamKamp herself informed me of another local happening in Westminster. April 17-19 is Renewal Weekend with Drs. Deepak Chopra and David Simon.  Renewal Weekend allows you to take some time for yourself, get in touch with your needs, and learn daily practices for balance, stress relief, and peace of mind. You will learn how to take care of your own health, get restful sleep, and feel revitalized. Whether you are new to the Chopra Center or looking to reconnect, this workshop is for you. Think I just might have to check this out.

Junk for the landfill? NO!

Local Denver designer Samuel Schimek (15min) presents recycled decorative items, found around town and recycled into contemporary useful goods.

These are made with found objects and re-purposed house paint and are designed to make already manufactured items that no longer fit in the contemporary trends of designed goods fresh and useful again
.

I love his strong use of color, resourcefulness, and his ability to see
beyond your typical thrift store finds. To have a treasure of your very own visit his shop or start reinventing what you already have.

EL BRONQUITO CAFE

I do not intend to become a food critic or even a critic on any level, but had to mention another great find in the Highlands. El Bronouito Cafe had the best Tacos al Carbon in Colorado. To the last detail they were authentic tasty and rooted in the community. If ever in the area and looking for a great mexican treat this is the place. Oh, and the interior is something worth seeing and experiencing. It is not high design from a magazine or even considered design. It is perfect. It feels like Mexico. The art work, images, paintings, odd sculptures, lighting, POS, and signing all are from the heart and soul of the owner and his family. I felt very comfortable just soaking it all up.

LEED Mania

This is all I see everywhere I go. It is crazy. I am in the grocery store looking at their hvac and thinking of EA credits then walking out into the parking lot to a collection of SS credits. Found a site that is really helping with the effort and wanted to share. intheLEED.com has been an excellent rescource for me understanding the basics and is keeping me on track until next week. Ok back to the books.

Magazine Layout

Found a print layout for the Spire published in the OutFront colorado magazine. "Like the campaign" I stood on the 18th floor this afternoon observing the construction on the pool deck on the 9th floor and I would really like to own a condo in the Spire. Sustainable, cool and on the forefront of Denver's new identity and affordable as well. There is something super cool about the wings of the Denver Convention Center in the background of the amenity deck.
